About Mustique Island

The island of Mustique sits at the northern tip of The Grenadines bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The picturesque 1,400 acres that make up this exotic hideaway are made up of rolling hills and lush vegetation with stretches of deserted white sand beaches surrounded by protected reefs and aquamarine seas. The island enjoys a warm climate year round with average temperatures of 75 to 85 degrees (24 to 29 c).

Mustique Island was bought by Lord Glenconner in 1958 and he gave HRH Princess Margaret a plot of land on the island as a wedding present in 1960. Princess Margaret built a villa residence and shortly after, other villa builders and owners moved onto the island. To this day, Mustique is home to a private community of people who are dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the island.

Mandalay Estate allows guests the unique opportunity to enjoy luxury villa living on Mustique Island and being a part of this community but with the feel of being on your own private tropical island.

Whilst Mustique Island is the perfect island for relaxing, that doesn’t mean you have to spend your whole holiday reclining (although who could blame you?). There are a number of activities both on land and on the water that you can do whilst you’re on the island.

Spend time on the beach

You can even ask your chef at Mandalay to prepare you a picnic or BBQ to enjoy on the beach. Great beach spots include Macaroni Beach and Lagoon Beach.

Enjoy the sea
The crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea that surround Mustique are the perfect opportunity to go out and experience all of the water activities available. You could head out on your private Catamaran with Mandalay’s butler as your tour guide, or try scuba diving or snorkelling. There also a number of water sports you can do on the island.

Go walking
Walking around Mustique Island is a great way of seeing all of the beauty that the island has to offer. If you’re not sure where to go, you can ask your personal butler at Mandalay for a recommendation of a route.
